Prairies

Prairies occupy an important area within the Municipality.

They are formed by grasses, particularly by navajita (Bouteloua sp.), zacate pelillo (Bouteloua filiformis), zZacate tres barbas (Aristida sp.), angel hair (Calliandra sp.), zacate banderilla (Bouteloua curtipendula), (Schizachyrium scoparium), etc.,

These parairies have lately been severely eroded through overgrassing, which has forced them to be invaded by other specied of semidesertic plants, like mezquite, uña de gato, etc.
