Black Tailed Hare, and Antilope Hare

In the Municipality there are two species.

Lepus californicus

Lepus alleni

In the photo the first one is shown.

They are distinguished in that the first one has the ears ending in a black spot, while the second they are totally white.

Another distinguishing characteristic is a white spot in the rump of the Antilope Hare. When the animal is resting it cannot be seen, but when excited, the spot will be shown immediately.
