
Diamondback rattlesnake

Crotalus atrox
This the largest rattlesnake in this region, as it can reach over two yards in length.
It has a thick body, with a head that stands out from the rest of the body.
The body is covered with black rhombus and hexagons, with lighter edges.
It has two thin diagonal lines at the side of the face, and a strip behind the eye that goes over the upper lip.
Their main distinguishing mark is the tail, with black and white strips.
It is very poisonous. Captive can live up to 26 years.
