Social Atomization and Uprooting

One of the main negative phenomena associated with the recent growth of Nogales lies in the social atomization and uprooting among nogalenses.

The logic associated with the recent immigration goes like this: If you have your family in another place, and if you have come to this border regiononly to improve economically, then the mental result is intepreting this border environment as something temporal, as a place where you will live in only for a while. In front of this immediacy, the need of living harmoniously in this region is, then, subordinated.

It doesn't matter if you will stay here, or if here you will form your new family. Subconsciously, you will have the perception that your hometown is in another place. The interest for this region isn't developed.

This is the reason behind which Nogales is seen as a difficult place to live in, as well as a region of difficult social organization.

This is also one of the causes for the local contamination, as well as the abuse of the natural environment.
